The pilot project has to represent the work you want more of
The most cinematic job is not automatically the best marketing job. Select a project that has meaningful value, a visible transformation, a clear customer need and a service Uncle Josh wants to repeat.
Good pilot characteristics
- Representative of a profitable priority service
- Visually understandable from drone and ground level
- Safe access and written customer/property permission
- A real challenge, decision or custom feature to explain
- A finished result available within a reasonable capture window
Confirm before scheduling
- Project town and approved location wording
- Verified scope, materials and custom features
- Drone airspace, weather and site-safety conditions
- Whether faces, address, vehicles or neighboring property may appear
- The exact estimate CTA and lead destination
Drone footage is the scale shot, not the whole story
The edit should answer five buyer questions: What was needed? What made it custom? How was it built? What proves the quality? What should someone do next?
Drone layer
- Property and setting establishing pass
- Safe reveal of the completed structure
- Orbit or lateral movement that shows scale and placement
- Before/after match when prior aerial coverage exists
Ground layer
- Human-height reveal and usable entrances
- Materials, connections, finishes and functional details
- Build process or progress stages where available
- James explaining one real decision and one next step
One visit, organized for every useful destination
| Destination | Best asset | Business purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Finished photos, concise project update, approved service/town | Help local searchers verify current work and act |
| Website / project page | Horizontal hero, scope, challenge, process, result, estimate action | Create permanent proof for search and referrals |
| Instagram / Facebook | Reveal, transformation, craftsmanship and owner explanation clips | Earn attention and make the work understandable |
| Estimate follow-up | Flagship video and relevant project link | Show a prospect a comparable completed job |
Track whether the project creates business momentum
The pilot should use a simple baseline and a 30–90 day follow-up. Do not claim that one post caused a sale unless the lead source and customer conversation support it.
Before publication
- Current Google profile actions and review count
- Current qualified calls/messages per month
- Current website or estimate-page visits, if available
- Typical close rate and average gross profit range
After publication
- Qualified calls, forms and direct messages
- Booked site visits and estimates
- “How did you hear about us?” responses
- Prospects who mention or receive the project video
- Booked work that content reasonably assisted
Pilot investment ÷ average gross profit per completed priority job = the fraction of one additional job required to recover the marketing cost.
Recurring content is earned by the pilot
The project helps generate qualified estimates, improves close conversations, and the team has capacity for more of that work.
The content earns attention but customers still do not understand the service, service area or estimate process. Fix the path before increasing volume.
The business lacks capacity, the selected service is not profitable, or the content produces only vanity metrics with no useful customer actions.
