Pocono Builders Association

Six scenarios, 73 shots, all of them built on events that are already on your calendar. Nothing here asks the association to stage anything. Tick the boxes in the field, they save on your device. The scenario that matters most is the Archive Rescue, because it is the only one where the photography has already been taken and paid for.

ScenariosHome show, awards gala, archive rescue, golf and clays, people, podcast day

In the field
Shoot vertical first for anything going to Instagram, then repeat wide for YouTube and the website. Every person who appears on camera needs to know it is going out publicly. For anything at the awards gala, get the winner before they leave the room, because chasing them afterwards never works.

Topic lobs and starter answers

Send two or three of these before the shoot. Record one clean idea per answer, then use a follow up rather than forcing a memorised script. The starter answers are there to show the shape of a good response, not to be read aloud.

Topic lob 01

Why join a builders association at all

Send this before the shoot
What does a homeowner actually get when a contractor is a member of this association, that they do not get otherwise?
Natural starter answer
“Membership means a signed code of ethics, proof of insurance on file, and a group of peers who will tell you when something is wrong. It is a filter, not a badge.”
Supporting shots
Directory on screen, office exterior, member at work
Guardrail
Do not claim any guarantee the association does not actually enforce.
Director follow up
“Can you give one real example?” Then: “What should someone do next if this applies to them?”
Topic lob 02

What to ask before you sign anything

Send this before the shoot
What are the three questions a Monroe County homeowner should ask a contractor before signing?
Natural starter answer
“Ask for the PA Home Improvement Contractor registration number, ask for proof of workers compensation, and ask for three references you can actually call.”
Supporting shots
Contract on a table, HIC number close up, handshake
Guardrail
The $5,000 threshold is PA law. State it accurately or leave it out.
Director follow up
“Can you give one real example?” Then: “What should someone do next if this applies to them?”
Topic lob 03

The awards, explained

Send this before the shoot
What does it take to win a Builder and Trade Professional Award, and why should a homeowner care?
Natural starter answer
“Entries are judged anonymously, on photographs and a written description of the work. It has run since 1980 and the categories are specific enough that you cannot win on marketing.”
Supporting shots
Archive photography, plaque close up, winner portrait
Guardrail
Categories and fees must match the current entry portal, not last year's.
Director follow up
“Can you give one real example?” Then: “What should someone do next if this applies to them?”
Topic lob 04

Building in the Poconos is different

Send this before the shoot
What do people from out of the area get wrong about building or renovating a second home up here?
Natural starter answer
“Seasonal access, well and septic, snow load, and townships that each do things their own way. A contractor who works here every week already knows which one you are dealing with.”
Supporting shots
Winter jobsite, township sign, well head or septic mound
Guardrail
Do not name a township as difficult on camera.
Director follow up
“Can you give one real example?” Then: “What should someone do next if this applies to them?”
Topic lob 05

Where the next generation comes from

Send this before the shoot
What is actually being done about the shortage of skilled trades in Monroe County?
Natural starter answer
“There is a scholarship, there is a co-op award with the Career and Technical Institute, and the Institute sits on this board. The pipeline exists, it just needs more members hiring out of it.”
Supporting shots
MCTI students, jobsite apprentice, scholarship presentation
Guardrail
Never film minors without written school and parent permission.
Director follow up
“Can you give one real example?” Then: “What should someone do next if this applies to them?”
Topic lob 06

What the home show is actually for

Send this before the shoot
Somebody has never been to the home show. What do they do when they walk in?
Natural starter answer
“Bring your plans. You can go booth to booth and talk to the people who would actually do the work, in one afternoon, without booking five separate appointments.”
Supporting shots
Blueprint moment, busy aisle, booth conversation
Guardrail
Confirm dates, admission price and hours before this is cut.
Director follow up
“Can you give one real example?” Then: “What should someone do next if this applies to them?”
Backup topic bank
What a permit actually covers in Monroe County
Why the lowest bid is usually not the cheapest job
What a second home needs that a primary home does not
How the association vets a new member
What changed in the code this year
Short term rentals, what owners get wrong

What comes out of it

A single home show weekend plus one gala night produces enough material to cover the association for a year, before the archive is even opened. The archive is the multiplier.
